the archaeological research project about early medieval rural settlements in the territory of Castelo de Vide (Alentejo, Portugal).
The general objective of PramCV is to reconstruct the way of life of peasant communities in the early medieval period. It’s a four-year archaeological research project that takes place between 2014 and 2017.
The PramCV focuses on the territory of Castelo de Vide, a Portuguese village in northern Alentejo. The importance of this region for the study of early medieval rural settlements resides in its landscape diversity and its large number of known archaeological remains.
Our research tasks are based on an archaeological methodological approach. We aim to obtain relevant data from the preserved material record, a crucial tool for reconstructing the historical past of Castelo de Vide’s territory.
